Your argument of "Everyone else is doing it so why can't I?" is pretty sound.  You really got me there.  If lots of people do something, it can't possibly be morally or legally offensive..
</sarcasm>

If you're going to take other peoples' art and post it to your own gallery, the very least you could do is give credit to the real artist.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renderin…

That is the traditional term and process for rendering in computer graphics.  Cutting a character from an image that likely has a background to go with it and making it transparent on the web is called making a "transparency".  Render/rendering is more of a process rather then a final result as you've been presenting them.  Maybe what you're referring to is more of a slang term in computer graphics that I'm not accustomed too.  Aside from transparency, you can also call it a "cutout" if you're looking for a more simplified term.

I'm not trying to insult you or anything, I'm just trying to explain the terminologies better.

What I think you're going for is something similar to this:

static2.nexusmods.com/110/imag…

This is a REAL render, because it shows the finished result of a 3D render in a blank space, perhaps even one that is transparent (and the image is also typically shot from the 3D software that rendered it.).  Usually you don't use the word render for 2D art, it's really just a digital painting with no background.  But I don't know, maybe render has become a buzz word for both when its presented on a solid/transparent background.

Honestly, I'm just trying to help.  I started out doing signatures and all that over 10 years ago, and now I do graphic design as a profession, with texture mapping as a hobby.  I don't condone wanting to show what you're learning, I just condone posting the artwork of other people and not clarifying what you're doing with it.

Stop pretending that you don't know we all call cut out images of wallpapers or pictures Renders that we can use in signatures. I'm sure that's a REAL render and that is the correct definition of RENDER. Just like baked beans aren't actually baked right? Go to any graphics community and look in their renders section.
